CHEMFAB® products are used in applications in the manufacturing of wind turbine blades and photovoltaic solar energy modules. In the production of wind turbine blades, CHEMFAB® fabrics are used as composite fabrication mold protection and release liners and in the production of solar energy panels CHEMFAB® fabrics find application in thephotovoltaic module laminating process.
In both applications, the release properties and mechanical properties of the product selected are critical to the performance of the manufacturing process and the quality of the products produced.
Photovoltaic cells production and module lamination
CHEMFAB PTFE (Teflon™) coated glass fabrics are widely used as non-stick release sheets and belts in Photovoltaic (PV)-module vacuum lamination processes. They fabrics provide durable and reliable release properties in single bed and multi-stack laminators of all sizes. Used in lamination or pressing of 3-dimensional materials, where creasing, folding and tearing are common issues, our products provide excellent mechanical properties and very good flex-life and flexural strength. CHEMFAB product has excellent thermal stability for typical press laminating temperatures up to 260°C.
CHEMFAB partners with CORETECH®, another Saint-Gobain brand, to offer the range of Darlyn and Flueflex expansion joint products to provide unrivalled support for limiting the emission of pollutants in coal-fired power stations and other harsh environments. These high strengths composites are designed to withstand high temperatures, chemical attack and constant vibration while compensating for movement and misalignment in ducting. They provide excellent environmental protection while retaining extraordinary strength retention and superior flex properties in corrosive and demanding environments. Darlyn and Flueflex materials can be used either on its own as a single layer non-metallic expansion joint or as a part of a multilayered product.
Fuel cells are green and efficient devices enabling continuous production and storage of energy in homes and enterprises. Acting as a very precise and tight seal and separator within the cell and the system, CHEMFAB PTFE coated fabrics further improve the efficiency of the fuel cells acting as a very precise and tight seal and separator within the cells. They offer modularity to the system and are able to withstand both high and low temperature extremes along with harsh chemical environment.
